Try these first — they fix most things
The app isn't seeing my camera or Capture One
- Make sure Capture One is running and tethered (a camera shows in its toolbar).
- Grant permission: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation, find Capture Companion, and switch on Capture One.
- If you're tethering a Canon over Wi-Fi, quit Canon's EOS Utility app — it conflicts with Capture One's wireless tether.
I missed the "would like to control Capture One" prompt
That's the macOS permission the Companion needs to read Capture One. Re-enable it under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation → Capture Companion → Capture One, then quit and reopen the Companion.
The Wi-Fi signal guard / Tether Doctor shows nothing
The signal and router checks only apply to a wireless tether through a supported router (GL.iNet). On a wired ("hardline") camera there's no Wi-Fi link to watch, so those parts switch off by design — the tether alarm, camera HUD and disk watch still work as normal.
I'm not hearing any alert sounds
Check the speaker icon in the dashboard isn't in Silent Mode (toggle with ⌃⌥⌘S), and that your Mac's output device is right. You can pick a different sound per alert type in Settings.
The shutter / aperture guard won't read my camera
The guards read those values from Capture One, and not every camera brand exposes shutter/aperture/ISO over Capture One's scripting. If yours doesn't, the disconnect alarm, HUD and disk watch still work — and we'd love to hear which body you're on so we can extend support. Email us the camera model.
How do I uninstall Capture Companion?
Right-click the menu-bar icon and choose Uninstall… — it deactivates your licence on this Mac (freeing a seat), removes the login item and its settings, and moves the app to the Trash. Prefer to do it by hand? Quit the app, drag Capture Companion from /Applications to the Trash, then deactivate the Mac from your Lemon Squeezy receipt to free the seat.
When you email, please include:
- Your macOS version and Capture One version
- Your camera and how it's connected (USB / Wi-Fi)
- What happened, and what you expected
It gets us to a fix in one reply instead of three.
Refunds: within 14 days of purchase, no questions asked — just email support@capturecompanion.ie. This is on top of your rights under Irish and EU consumer law.
